Fiona Buchanan is the founder of 'Homeless Animals' which then became 'Friends of the Animals'.
She has devoted 16 years full time to animals in need.
The Friends of the Animals Incorporated is an independent, not for profit, registered animal welfare charity.

The Friends of the Animals was founded in 2001 by Fiona Buchanan and other dedicated volunteers because of the enormous need for Animal Welfare in North Queensland. We operate two retail businesses fully staffed by volunteers.

We have freshly ground local coffee and a large variety of teas - open 7 days a week from 10am - 4pm

Proposed Animal Home in Wongabel State Forest - Atherton Tablelands, North Queensland.

Our Aims

• To build an animal refuge for the Tableland area of North Queensland, to take in neglected, abandoned, sick and legacy animals to rehabilitate and rehouse them. 20 acres of land, fully fenced will provide homes for dogs, cats, horses, donkeys and sheep. Any practical help or advcie will be appreciated.
• Education programs in schools and for the general public in the care of and responsibility for domestic and farm animals.
• To lobby councils to enforce desexing of all domestic animals except for registered breeders.

All donations of goods, services or money are welcome. We depend on the profits of these two businesses and we rely heavily on the generosity of the public. If you would care to help, you can make a donation and/or become a volunteer. Please contact us.
